Signal Corps Emblem Wooden Plaque

The United States Army Signal Corps develops, tests, provides, and manages communications and information systems support. It was founded in 1860 by United States Army Major Albert J. Myer. Over its history, it had responsibility for functions and new technologies including military intelligence, weather forecasting, and aviation.

"Crossed flags" have been used by the Signal Corps since 1868, the burning torch was added to the insignia and the present design adopted in 1884.
